I can’t recall how I discovered the artist that is Harmonia Rosales. If my memory serves me correctly, it was through social media. Instantly I was a captivated fan. This is how dope she is, during her reimagined painting of “creation of David” she made God not only female but black. Twitter was mind-fucked by this act. Here’s what people tend to forget, artist create as they see the world. As a Afro-Cuban woman, this is the world through her eyes and rather you agree with it or not, it’s beauty in the purest form. When Harmonia became a mother, she wanted her daughter to see art that represented her looks (brown skin and curly hair) from there she started to take images from history and replace them to represent people of color.
